The Candidates Say ‘Thank You’

Dear Newtowners:

Now that the dust has settled and the phone calls have slowed down, I wish to take this opportunity to thank all Newtowners, regardless of their party affiliation, who came out to vote for Paul Mangiafico and me. Because of the number of highly qualified candidates who ran for office, I personally feel that the campaign and final vote was a great success for Newtown. Congratulations to the winners, and I look forward to working with you to address the challenges facing Newtown.

To those of you who were unsuccessful, I urge you to keep your heads up high and continue to volunteer your services for the good of the town.

Sincerely,

Joseph E. Borst

First Selectman Elect

To the Editor:

I would like to express a very special thank you to all newtown voters, it was wonderful to see such a large turnout for the 2007 election.  My experience as a petitioning canadite for First Selectman has been wonderful, I enjoyed each debate, meeting the voters, and hope that the questions you had asked of us will be answered in a timely manner.  I also wish Joe Borst congradulations for winning his bid for First Selectman, and thank Herb Rosenthal for his 10 years of public service.

To the Editor:

I feel very honored to be able to serve on the Board of Education. It would not have been possible for me to run without the help and advice of so many people — old friends, new friends, and especially my family.

I would like to thank all of you for your support. I hope that I will exceed your expectations in this endeavor.

Sincerely,

Kathy Fetchick

To the Editor:

How do I begin to thank everyone for the overwhelming support? Your belief and faith in me will be what drives me as I sit on BOE with some other terrific people. I know I have my work cut out for me and am confident I will handle the task.

I would like to thank my family and friends for their unfailing support, and all the Newtowners who took the time to go out and vote. My win is bittersweet as the man who got me involved in town politics, Herb Rosenthal, did not get reelected as first selectman. I’m glad he is still part of a great team.

I will also miss not working with Joe Bojnowski, though I look forward to working with everyone who has been elected. I would like to thank Sarah Hemingway, who kept us motivated and informed. I would also like to thank Mike Kelley, our campaign manager, and the rest of the Democratic Town Committee, who offered assistance at every turn and helped us to run our campaigns. It was a learning experience to be sure. I am glad to have elections over so that my job on the BOE can begin. If you would like to reach me at any time, please email me at AnnaWiedemannBOE@gmail.com.

To the Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the voters of District 2 for electing me to serve as their representative on the Legislative Council. I would also like to thank everyone who helped me with my campaign, those who walked with me in their neighborhoods, wrote letters of endorsement, made phone calls and supported me in many other ways, I truly appreciate all of your help.

I would like to give special thanks to Mike Kelley and Anna Wiedemann for their tireless efforts on my behalf. I want to thank Herb Rosenthal for his help and support. I also want to thank him for his ten years of service as our first selectman. I am disappointed with his loss as well as Tim Holian’s. Newtown will miss their leadership.

Last but certainly not least I want to thank my family; Maribeth, Maggie, and Sarah worked extremely hard on my behalf and pushed me into campaigning harder than I ever have before. Sarah especially did everything in her power to help and support me and the entire Democratic ticket. I am as proud as I can be of her, and anyone who reads the letters to The Bee on a regular basis probably understands why; Sarah has made a name for herself in Newtown politics and I believe Newtown will be a better place for it for many years to come.

Thank you again for your help and support. I look forward to serving once again as your representative on the Legislative Council

Respectfully,

Joe Hemingway

To the Editor:

I am very appreciative of all the support I received from Newtown voters, my friends, Democrats, Republicans, and members of the Independent Party of Newtown on November 6. I was certainly overwhelmed by the 2,937 individuals who made a conscious decision to vote for me. I will not let you down.

My first order of business is to listen and learn from the other members of Police Commissioners. Although I have had some issues with the work of the commissioners, they are all dedicated servants of the people, knowledgeable, and all volunteer a great deal of their time. I know all of Newtown appreciates their efforts. I plan on being a team player, while keeping my commitments to the voters.

I also want to reach out to the residents of Newtown and hear from you on issues which may or should come before the Police Commission and The Traffic Authority. Please feel free to e-mail me at bwalczak@snet.net. I am anxious to receive as much input as possible from you all.

Thank you again for your overwhelming support and I pledge that I will work diligently in return.

To the Editor:

I would like to thank the people of the third district for returning me to the Legislative Council for second term. There are many issues that we will face in the next two years and I look forward to finding solutions on behalf of all Newtowners.

I enjoyed talking with the many constituents I met during the campaign and hope to continue the dialog. Please write, call or e-mail me with your questions or concerns.

To the Editor:

I want to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Newtown for their support during the recent election and to congratulate all the candidates on the ballot for the time spent on their campaign and their dedication to our community.

My upcoming term will be filled with many exciting new challenges. Together with a new staff, your town clerk’s office goal is to incorporate ideas from our residents as well as the hundreds of legal and support service professionals who visit every year.

To be more efficient as well as cost effective, implementing up-to-date technology will be a key factor. Also minutes and agendas from our boards and commissions will be made available to the public on the town’s website.

The town clerk’s office has over 500 state-mandated tasks we must be ready to perform; therefore, formal on-going training is paramount. I plan on continuing municipal clerk’s education as well as providing my staff with their own opportunities for further development.

My assistants and I are all proud to be residents of Newtown, and we will work diligently to assist our community and neighbors with their needs.
