Katherine M. Smith

Katherine M. Schneller Smith, 93, of Ridgefield, died on April 22 at Laurel Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ridgefield. She was the widow of William J. Smith and is survived by three daughters: Beverly Maie Mulhair of Newtown, Joan C. Guisti of Waterbury, and Deborah K. Downs of Bethel; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren

Mrs Smith was born in Hamden on February 16, 1912. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Edith (McLean) Schneller.

She worked for many years at Woodbury Pewter and enjoyed her hobbies including sewing, quilting and gardening. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had wonderful times traveling to Bermuda to visit her granddaughter and her family.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Ann Herman.  A memorial service will be held at Ridgebury Congregational Church in Ridgefield on Monday, May 2, at noon. Burial of her urn will follow in Ridgebury Cemetery, Ridgefield.
