And Uncle

Richard D. Blood, 54, died October 15 at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. Born September 5, 1955, in Bridgeport, Mr Blood was a son of the late Donald and Frances (Witkowski) Blood.

A resident of Newtown for 45 years, he graduated from Newtown High School in 1973. 

Mr Blood served in the US Navy, and was an avid golfer. His employment included years at Newtown County Club, which enabled him to enjoy the game after his long working hours. He also worked at Newtown Village Cemetery, Grolier Enterprises in Danbury, and until recently, Ethan Allen, Inc in Newtown.

He is survived by his ten sisters and brothers, including Donna Wildman and her husband, Gary, of Sandy Hook, and Sharon Zagata and her husband, Joseph, of Newtown; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. He will be sadly missed.

Honan Funeral Home of Newtown is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at 11 am, Saturday, October 24, at Newtown Village Cemetery.
