Drug Charges

Police report that at about 7:30 pm on September 27, they noticed a motorist traveling on Mile Hill Road with a nonfunctioning tail lamp, so they stopped him to investigate.

A search of the vehicle by a police dog turned up some drugs, police said.

Police then charged motorist Jeffrey Santos, 18, of Danbury with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to have a functioning tail lamp.

Police released Santos on a written promise to appear October 11 in Danbury Superior Court.

High School Arrests

Police arrested two 15-year-old boys at Newtown High School on the morning of September 27 following an incident there.

Police said the two youths allegedly stole a cellular telephone and a digital music player from the backpack of another student.

Police arrested each of the two boys on a charge of sixth-degree larceny. Each boy was released into the custody of his parents for October 15 appearances in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Because the youths are under age 18, their identities are shielded from public disclosure by state law.

Two Charges

Police said they spotted motorist Bryan T. Harvey, 24, of Danbury driving a vehicle without a front marker plate on Castle Hill Road, near its intersection with Taunton Lake Road, about 9 am September 26, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police then charged Harvey with failure to display a front marker plate and with driving while under suspension.

Following processing, police released Harvey on a written promise to appear for arraignment on October 11 in Danbury Superior Court.

Subaru Vs Deer

About 3:50 pm on September 29, motorist Mary McNee, 58, of 25 Alpine Circle was driving a 1998 Subaru Impreza eastward near 63 Mt Pleasant Road, when a deer entered the road, police said.

The Subaru and the deer collided. McNee was not injured, according to police. No enforcement action was taken.

Toyota Vs Jeep

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the busy intersection of South Main Street, Meadow Brook Road, and Botsford Hill Road about 4 pm September 29.

Motorist Michael Lombardi, 25, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2004 Jeep sport-utility vehicle, stopped and was waiting for a red traffic signal to change on southbound South Main Street, when a 1999 Toyota sedan driven by Stephanie Reid, 50, of Naugatuck struck the Jeep, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Reid for improper passing.

Repossession Incident

Police said that early on the morning of September 29, they responded to a report of trouble on Spring Trail in the Cedarhurst section.

Police said two employees of Dean, LLC, informed them that Christopher Jayne, 40, of Priest River, Idaho, had become uncooperative and belligerent as the employees attempted to repossess Jayne’s motor vehicle.

Police said that after a brief altercation, they arrested Jayne on a charge of second-degree reckless endangerment. There were no injuries in the incident, according to police.

Police released Jayne on a written promise to appear in court on October 11.

DUI Charge

Police report that at about 2 am on October 3, they spotted motorist Gregory Gruce, 18, of 34 Riverside Road make a traffic violation at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Main Street, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police said they then charged Gruce with driving under the influence, making a restricted turn, and failure to obey a stop sign.

After processing, Gruce posted $50 bail and was released for an October 17 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
