Newtown Parks & Recreation has announced that due to the threatening weather, today’s Summer Jam Concert Series will take place at Hawley School.

The outdoor series will move into the gymnasium of the school, at 29 Church Hill Road. There is no admission charge for the concert.

The third annual series sponsored by Claris Construction offers children and parents a weekly musical offerings, usually performed at Dickinson Park. The July 21 concert will be headlined by PBS personality SteveSongs, a/k/a Mr Steve.

According to his website, “Steve Roslonek of SteveSongs has been writing and performing his award-winning music for kids and families for the past 15 years. Steve blends participatory songs, clever stories and great melodies to create what The Boston Globe called ‘not just a musical journey but an entertaining, interactive and educational one.’”

Picnic lunches are welcome, and blankets should be brought in to the school for seating. Chairs are not allowed on the gym floor.

Summer Jam Concert Series performances are for all ages, with a special focus on children age 10 and under.

The 2015 series is scheduled to continue for two more weeks. The Cincinnati-based Grammy nominee Zak Morgan will return on July 28, and then Latin Grammy nominee Mister G will perform the season finalé on August 4. The concerts will be held at Dickinson Park, 50 Elm Drive, unless weather creates the need for another change of venue.
