Alzheimerâs Support Group Starting Up
At The Homesteads
The Homesteads At Newtown Retirement Community will be hosting an Alzheimerâs Support Group on alternating Thursdays at 7:30 pm beginning March 3. Families, friends, and caregivers of the memory-impaired are invited to attend and share their experiences and concerns in dealing with their challenges.
Professional counselor and therapist Rev Bob Werme will lead the support group. Rev Werme is pastoral care coordinator with Hospice and Palliative Care of the Connecticut VNA in Waterbury. Assisting Rev Werme is Neena Finch, the recreation coordinator for The Homesteads At Newtownâs GardenWalk Neighborhood for residents with Alzheimerâs or memory impairment.
Respite care will be available during the support group. Preregistration before each session is preferred, but not required. To register or for more information, call Neena Finch at The Homesteads At Newtown, 426-8118.
