Children’s Programs

*Summer Reading Update: A reminder that Summer Reading ends on August 18.

Children must have all of their reporting completed on or before August 18 to be eligible for the raffle. The drawing will take place on Monday, August 20, and winners will be notified by phone as soon as possible.

 *C.H. Booth Library is 75!

On Thursday, August 16, the library will host a birthday party at the Edmond Town Hall gym from 1 to 3 pm. Airborne Jugglers will perform and birthday cake will be served.

Space is limited to the first 200 children. Parents must remain with their children for the duration of the program.

*Fall Story Time, Registration Time: Registration for fall story times will begin on August 23 and end on September 4. Sessions are offered for ages 12-24 months, 2-3 year olds, and 3-5 year olds.

No phone registrations will be accepted. You must reside in Newtown to be eligible for this free program.

Sessions will meet once weekly for six weeks beginning the week of September 10.  For more information call the children’s department at 426-3851.

Programs For Young Adults

 *Digital Photography program: A reminder that John Tucci of Flagpole Photographers Club will be leading a special Hands-On Digital Photography Workshop for young adults interested in learning about digital photography this weekend. The new date and time for this workshop is Saturday, August 11, from 10 to 11:30 am.

Limited to ten young adults entering grade 6 and up, the workshop will begin outside the library back door. Participants will walk around the library (outdoors and inside), and take photos and get pointers and assistance from Mr Tucci.

Participants may invite a parent or other adult to come with them. You’ll need to bring your own digital camera and manual. Registration is requested and can be done in person or over the phone.

*Tweens & Teens Summer Reading has ended for this year. Congratulations to all who participated and read lots of book old and new so far this summer.

The most frequently read books were those in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

Adult Programs

*Daytime Book Discussion: The Daytime Group will meet on Monday, August 13, to discuss The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.
