Occupation: I’m retired. I worked for 42 years in what started out as Allied Container Company in Newtown, then it became Union Camp. In 1998, the plant was purchased by The Kraft Group and it became Rand Whitney. Now it’s Cascades. My position at all three companies was Customer Service Manager, starting in 1978. It was my first full-time job after graduating from Western Connecticut State University.

Family: My husband, Bruce W. Moulthrop, and I have been married for 36 years as of June 11. We got married in 1983 and met in 1981. He is an IT liaison/tech assistant at the Newtown Middle School. We have a daughter, Erin, who lives in Stratford. She’s married to Ben and has a 2-year-old son, Owen. We’re expecting another grandson in December — I’m very excited about that. We have a son, Stephen, who lives in Alpharetta, Ga., with his wife Isabel. They have two girls, Paisley and Avery.

Pets: We don’t have any presently, but for years we did. Before we had the kids, we had a black lab, Pogo, who lived to be around 15 years old. Then when he died, we got a yellow lab, Dustin, as a puppy. He lived to be 16 and died two years ago. I also had a cat back in my single days and then my daughter got a kitten when she was little.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve lived in Newtown my whole life. I was born here, my father was born here, and his father was born here. On my father’s side — the Tilson side — my great-grandfather Samuel came to Newtown in the early-1800s, before the Civil War. He came down from Vermont, where the branch of the family had migrated to from the Plymouth Bay Colony.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to read a lot and am just getting into the Elin Hildebrand books. I love to cook and collect cookbooks. I like to bake for family and friends. I like to fuss over my grandchildren and entertain them when I can. Also, I was very active with St John’s Church in town before it closed.

Do you have a favorite author? I like a lot of historical fiction and thrillers. I like to read novels by authors Tom Clancy and James Patterson.

What is your favorite travel destination? We love to go to and vacation in Cape Cod in the summer. We used to go to Maine when the kids were younger to see my sister-in-law when she lived up there, then she retired to The Cape.

What is the best part about Newtown? I like the fact that the neighbors care for each other. People look out for each other. The town has expanded, but people move in, and your neighbors become your friends and your family.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My parents and grandmothers set an example for me of a strong work ethic. They all worked hard their entire lives to take care of the family, including extended family. My dad gave me a love of gardening, especially vegetables. My mom and grandmother’s all loved flowers. My grandmothers were great cooks and bakers who taught me how to make many of their recipes — homemade bread, pickles from the garden, to name a couple.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? My father and grandmothers. I’d want them to be able to see my grandchildren.

Who is your favorite musical artist? I like a broad spectrum. I like to listen to jazz and The Beatles.

Do you have a favorite TV show? I love Blue Bloods. I like detective mysteries.

What is your favorite food? My secret passion is Chinese food.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? “Be yourself and trust in yourself.”

What is something you cannot live without? My computer, iPhone, and other electronics. Now that I’ve got these things, I’m always checking Facebook to find out what’s going on with the kids.

What is your proudest accomplishment? My kids.
