Sacrificial Fire Ritual Planned

STRATFORD — The Hindu Cultural Center of Connecticut, Inc will host a Yajurveda Yajna — a sacrificial fire ritual — for peace, the environment, health, happiness, prosperity, milestone events and the Class of 2008, on Sunday, June 29. The event will be at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 96 Chapel Street, and will run from 2 to 6 pm.

A Yajna is a Vedic tradition where oblations, or sacrifices (traditionally wood, fruit, grain, oil or yogurt), are offered to a sacred fire while those gathered chant Vedic hymns. A Yajna plays a vital role in purifying the environment, providing health, social peace, communal prosperity, and harmony with the self.

The Yajna on June 29 will be conducted by Acharya Baljeet Shastri Ji.

All are welcome. Attendance is free, and donations are welcome and will be tax-deductible.
