Newtown girlsâ youth lacrosse is in full swing!
The girlsâ program has grown three-fold since its inception three years ago. There is a lot of enthusiasm from the 60 participants ranging from 2nd through 8th grade. The 2nd-6th grade team has started its season with an impressive 2-0 start, having defeated Madison and Eli/New Haven at the Yale Bowl on Saturday, April 30th.
The 5th and 6th grade girls represented Newtown in a Connecticut Jamboree in Greenwich on May 7th.
The 7th and 8th grade team has had one game versus a strong Danbury team and defeated them 12-8. We look forward to a great season with both strong offensive and defensive squads. Upcoming games are May 12th and May 24. The 7th and 8th grade rookie team has had one loss to Redding, 2-0, but is gearing up for Southington on May 24th. The rookies also participated in the Greenwich Jamboree.
