Burglary

At about 3 am October 9, someone broke a lock and forced open a door on the south side of the Citgo gas station/convenience store at 151 South Main Street, police said.

The burglar then stole a large amount of cigarettes from the premises.

The theft represents third-degree larceny, a felony that involves stealing between $1,000 and $5,000 worth of goods. The person also committed second-degree burglary, which is a felony, as well as third-degree criminal mischief.

Patrol Officer Todd Dingee asks anyone with information about the crime to contact him at the police station at 426-5841.

Honda Vs Deer

About 8:40 pm October 6, motorist Paul Andras, 17, of Poverty Hollow Road was driving a 1998 Honda sedan eastward on Sugar Street, near its intersection with West Street, when a deer ran onto the road, police said. Andras was unable to avoid the animal and collided with it, after which the deer left the scene, police said. Andras was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
