Sushi In The Sukkah

LITCHFIELD — Chabad Lubavitch of Northwest Connecticut will host “Sushi in the Sukkah” Sunday, September 30, at Chabad Lubavitch Community Center. The event will run from 4 to 6:30 pm.

“The Sukkah is Biblical in origin,” explains Rabbi Joseph I. Eisenbach, director of Chabad Lubavitch of Northwest Connecticut. “It is reminiscent of the Clouds of Glory which protected the Jews in the desert,” referring to the biblical account of the ancient supernatural sojourn by the Hebrews through the Sinai Desert. The Jewish tradition will be observed this year from Wednesday, September 26, at sunset to Thursday October 4, at sunset.

“Sushi in the Sukkah” will include a family dinner with full sushi bar, refreshments, singing, and schmoozing. There will also be a moon bounce set up for the kids, as well as Lulav and Esrog workshops.

Children will be able to touch, smell, and taste specimens of each of the “four species:” Esrog, Lulav, Hadasim and Aravos.

Suggested donation is $10 for adults, and $5 for ages 10 and under. The community center is at 7 Village Green Drive.

For reservations or additional information call 800-297-6864 or visit ChabadNW.org/sushi.
