Loved Family, Gardening, and Animals
Dorothy May Servidio, 89, died January 1. She was born January 18, 1920, in Lime Ridge, Quebec, Canada, to Thomas Jefferson Lewis and Catherine Wheeler Lewis. She had been a resident of Newtown for more than 60 years.
On July 7, 1944 she married Frank âMontanaâ P. Servidio, who served during World War II in the Army as a staff sergeant first class. Through the years, she made many sacrifices for her family and country. During the war she corresponded with four servicemen and sent them packages from home, in the effort to keep up the morale of the troops.
Mrs Servidio shared her late husbandâs love of their prize-winning garden. She canned tomatoes and peaches, and made jellies. A wonderful cook and baker, she enjoyed company and was a most gracious host.
She was an accomplished organist, loved music, and with âMontanaâ was an enthusiastic member of several country music groups. She loved animals, especially birds and cats.
Mrs Servidio was a loving mother to her children. She was caring and determined and persevered during good times and bad. She knew the Lord and taught her children Christian values that have supported them throughout their lives.
She is survived by her son, Frank Natale Servidio; a daughter, Catherine Young; and her three grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister and three brothers, two of whom were killed in action in World War II; and a grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday morning, January 7. Interment followed in St Maryâs Cemetery in Greenwich.
