Harrison Gallery Shows Sharon Carson’s Works At Tunnel City Coffee House

Set 2-5; AK; # 687273

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. — The Harrison Gallery shows Sharon Carson’s “A New View” at the Tunnel City Coffee House on Spring Street February 16–May 33. Carson shows a collection of new oil paintings done with a fresh look after her move from Rockport, Mass., in 2004.

Carson’s exploration of local sites is reflected in many of her recent works; her landscapes are rhythmic, angular translations that have a semiabstract yet pristine quality. As Carson explains, “I’m increasingly interested in abstraction in painting, yet I choose not to move away from landscape as my subject matter. I’ve been painting landscapes for 30 years. I find that nature offers every form of abstraction an artist could wish for. There’s a sense of permanence and harmony about nature that I personally want to feel and also want to capture in my paintings.”

Carson has exhibited widely, including the Whistler House Museum of Art, the Canton Art Institute, the Attleboro Museum, the Les Amis de la Greande Vine in Dinan museum of France, Symphony Hall in Boston, The Copley Society of Boston, and the Art Association of Old Lyme, Conn. She has also appeared in American Artist.

The Tunnel City Coffee House is open seven days a week from 7 am to 6 pm. For information, 413-458-1700 or www.theharrisongallery.com.
