Have ‘Dinner With Friends’ At Playshop

WILTON — The Wilton Playshop, Wilton’s community theatre since 1937, will opens its 69th season with Don Margulies’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play Dinner With Friends on Friday, February 10, at the theatre on Lover’s Lane. Dinner… is being directed by Richard Mancini, who last directed Our Town for The Playshop during its 2001-02 season.

Dinner With Friends has a cast that Playshop Executive Producer Skip Ploss called “a dream cast.” Peter Wood of Stratford and Kim McGrath of Woodbridge portray Gabe and Karen, international food writers who return to their home in Connecticut to find that things aren’t going to well within the marriage of their friends.

Linda Bushey of Milford and Michael Day of Stamford play Beth and Tom, the troubled couple. The play shows how both relationships change as the two couples live through Beth and Tom’s marital problems.

The set for Dinner With Friends has been a challenging one as the play calls for the set to be built on a revolving stage. Robert Watts’ design for a set built on a 22-foot revolving platform has been executed by a team of carpenters lead by master carpenter Fred Stinard, who serves as a co-chair for The Playshop’s set department.

Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings, February 10 through February 25, at 8 pm. There will also be a 2 pm matinee on Sunday, February 19.

Tickets are $18 for adults, and $15 for seniors and students.

For tickets and reservations call the Playshop’s box office at 203-762-7629 or visit www.WiltonPlayshop.org.
