Music And Research Of David Chivers
David Chivers will offer a solo violin recital, âMusic and Researchâ on Wednesday, April 28, in the Olga Knoepke Meeting Room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown. The program is being presented by Alliance Française of Northwestern Connecticut.
The young, talented Franco-American violinist and scholar will introduce each of the works he performs and will explain how they relate to his research with Elliot Carter and at Yale. Currently on a tour of the East Coast, Mr Chivers is conducting research at the Sorbonne on the relationship between the perception of time and the performance of music.
Recent concerts have included works of Carter, Marinon, Biber and Ysaye, along with a special commission by Nathan Williamson. Mr Chivers will be recording these works for his first CD, scheduled to be released in October.
The program will begin at 5:30, when attendees can enjoy light refreshments and converse in English and/or French. Mr Chiversâ performance will begin at 6 pm. Admission is free and reservations are not necessary.
