Interstate Accident

State police said motorist Alanna Bellavia, 20, of Rutherford,  NJ, who was driving a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Interstate-84 near the Brookfield town line about 3:45 pm February 18, spun out during snowy weather conditions and struck the median concrete barrier rail. There were no injuries.

Jeep Vs Snowplow

Motorist Douglas J. Montgomery, 38, of 16 Marlin Road, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee about 2:30 pm February 18, was descending a driveway on Saddle Ridge Road when he slid on an ice patch and entered the road, striking a passing town snowplow operated by John H. Ferris, 39, of 33 Pole Bridge Road, Sandy Hook. Police verbally warned Montgomery for failure to grant the right of way at a driveway entrance.

Currituck Crash

Private snowplow operator Andrew Guzzetti, 29, of West Redding, who was clearing a driveway on Currituck Road about 4:15 pm February 19, stopped while partially in the road and waited for traffic to pass as oncoming southbound motorist Michael Paul Lukchis, 18, of Danbury, who was driving a 1993 Toyota Corolla, went into a skid and struck the snowplow, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Guzzetti a written warning for failure to yield the right of way.

 

 Route 34 Accident

Police report motorist Karen J. Radzimirski, 44, of 11 Orange Pippin Road, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1995 Ford Taurus on Route 34 about 9:15 am February 19, lost control of the auto and went across the road, striking a steel guard cable. Ms Radzimirski was not injured. Police issued her a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Church Hill Collision

Motorist James F. Ryan, 54, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Avalon westbound on Church Hill Road about 1:30 pm February 19, turned left to enter the Blue Colony Diner parking lot and was struck by eastbound motorist Jane K. Cruz, 26, of Danbury, who was driving a 1987 Pontiac Grand Am, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Ryan a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Dog Struck

Police report that a dog ran onto South Main Street from the right road shoulder about 8 pm February 17 and was struck by southbound motorist Brian P. Straniti, 21, of 1 Partridge Lane, who was driving a 1998 Honda Civic. Police contacted the injured dog’s owner about the incident. Police verbally warned the dog’s owner, James Knapp of 22 Oakview Road, for allowing a dog to roam.

Minivan Vs. Auto

 Police report motorist Stanley Hochman, 60, of 80 Overlook Drive, who was driving a 2000 Plymouth Voyager minivan, was waiting to turn left onto South Main Street from a driveway at 79 South Main Street at about noon February 21.

As the minivan turned onto the street, it drove into the path of oncoming northbound motorist Diego A. Raigosa, 31, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Nissan Altima, resulting in a collision.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Raigosa to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

Police issued Hochman an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to grant the right of way at a private driveway.
