Hike To Enjoy The Little Things In Life
Hike To Enjoy
 The Little Things In Life
WESTON â On Saturday, June 23, from 9:30 to 11:30 am, The Nature Conservancyâs Devil Den Preserve is offering a special hike to feature the little things in life: small, ancient evergreens, lichens, mosses, galls, and other unique plants, insects, and animals. Natural history guide Cia Marion will lead this search for small natural treasures. She will be assisted by Den guide Betsy Neuburg.
What is the purpose of small plants and insects? How do their life stages vary? What is their place in the chain of life? Bring some bright eyes and a magnifying lens, and visit Devilâs Den to discover what is small and living in the protected forest, which is part of the even larger Saugatuck Forest Lands region.
Devilâs Den Preserve is by itself the largest nature preserve in Southwestern Connecticut and straddles the Redding/Weston line. It is located at the end of Pent Road, off Godfrey Road, between Routes 53 and 57 in Weston. Call The Den office, o203-226-4991, weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm to make a reservation or to receive directions or further information about the programs that take place all year long at local conservancy preserves.
