*KELLY MITTLEMAN hasn’t stopped singing, and this weekend we have a chance to show support to the Newtown resident who was a finalist on the Today show’s “Today’s Superstar” contest a few years ago. Kelly will be headlining tonight in fact (November 17) at The Georgetown Saloon in Redding.

She’s been busy touring and recording since then, and will be headlining near her hometown this weekend. Showtime is 9 pm; the saloon is at 8 Main Street (telephone 203-544-8003).

Check out her gorgeous website at KellyMittleman.com.

*KING FOR A DAY (KFAD), a new rock band including members of DEEP BANANA BLACKOUT, will perform at Bridgeport’s Acoustic Café on Saturday, November 25. The band features Dan Labich on vocals, Benj Lefevre on bass, Randy Funke on guitar and Eric Kalb on drums.

KFAD combines an affinity for 70’s rock in the style of The Band and CSNY with influences as diverse as the Beatles, the Police, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan and The Who. KFAD has already toured extensively in 2006 and appeared this summer at the renowned Gathering of The Vibes festival in New York.

The Acoustic Cafe is at 2926 Fairfield Avenue.  The show begins at 9pm and tickets are $6.

KFAD’s debut CD, the tongue-in-cheek titled Greatest Hits, Volume 1, is already available. For more information and to listen to their music, visit KingForADay.org or AcousticCafe.com.                                  *Also over Thanksgiving weekend, FTC’s Stage One will host two concerts by the jazz fusion group SPYRO GYRA. The band will be in Fairfield on Saturday, November 25, at 7 and 9 pm. Tickets are $37 for the public, or $27 for members.

The theater is at 70 Sanford Street; call 203-319-1404 or visit FairfieldTheatre.org for details about this show, future shows, and membership.

Also coming up at StageOne are the following shows: December 1, ROBBIE DUPREE (“Steal Away,” “Hot Rod Hearts”) will join forces with Larry Hoppen of ORLEANS fame and kayboardsit DAVID SANCIOUS (formerly of Springsteen’s E Street Band); December 8, singer, songwriter and musician JOHN SEBASTIAN headlines; DECEMBER 15, the pop-rock quartet THE ZAMBONIS; and for New Year’s Eve, a benefit for FTC featuring ROOMFUL OF BLUES. Showtime for that event will be 8 pm and while ticket information wasn’t available this week, I do know that invitations to this event will be sent by mail to those who are interested in attending, so call FTC right away for details.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
