Firehouse Damaged
Police report that the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Companyâs fire substation at 249 Berkshire Road (Route 34) was damaged by an unknown vehicle sometime on April 3 or April 4. Police ask anyone with information on the matter to contact investigating Officer Scott Smith at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Shoplifting
Police said they responded to the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street about 3:51 pm April 6 after receiving a shoplifting complaint.
Police said they found Susan Kunz, 53, of 4 Lorraine Drive in a wooded area near the store. Police allege that Kunz stole some merchandise from the store. Police added that Kunz provided false identification information to them.
Police said they charged Kunz with sixth-degree larceny, criminal impersonation, and interfering with police.
Kunz was released on $100 bail for an April 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Keys Found
During the weekend of April 2âApril 3, a set of keys that were attached to a blue carabiner was found at Dickinson Park. The owner should contact investigating Officer Matthew Hayes at the police at 3 Main Street to claim the keys.
MV Charges
Police report that they stopped a vehicle near 80 Church Hill Road about 5:37 pm April 5 to investigate.
Police said they charged motorist Alexjandro Lima, 21, of Bethel with failure to wear a seatbelt, driving with a suspended license, and failure to return a suspended license to the state.
Lima was released on a written promise to appear in court on April 20.
