For Christmas At The Palace
WATERBURY â Following upon the overwhelming success of its holiday program at The Palace Theater season, The Waterbury Chorale will begin its 40th anniversary season with âChristmas at The Palace 2006.â Leading the group through the many moods of Christmas, Musical Director Joseph J. Jacovino will conduct the 120-member Chorale and The Waterbury Chorale Festival Orchestra.
The concert is scheduled for Saturday, December 3, beginning at 8 pm.
A number of Newtown residents are members of the Chorale, including Gerard Belanger, Katharine Bobel, Sharon Goodkowsky, B.J. Johnston-OâConnor, Dick Kase, Luisa Olah and Frank Von Oy.
Tom Chute of radio station WATR will join the Chorale in the presentation an original work by Mr Jacovino, âChristmas in The Palace,â a tribute to The Palace Theater and its place in Waterbury history. Dancers with Woodbury Ballet will also be featured during some of the holiday selections.
The Magnificat by Jonathan Willcocks, plus Gloria and Christmas Flourish by Randol Alan Bass, will be the main choral/orchestral works within a varied program to include familiar pieces such as âI Saw Three Ships,â âDeck The Halls,â âJingle Bellsâ variations arranged by Mark Hayes, the Nigerian carol âBetelehemu,â Bogoroditse Devo by Rachmaninoff, and âThe Many Moods of Christmasâ as arranged by Shaw and Bennett.
Gold Circle reserved tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children, and all other seats are $25 and $15 for adults and children respectively. Tickets are available by calling the theaterâs box office at 203-755-4700 or online at PalaceTheaterCT.org.
