Ambrose A. Sharnick

Ambrose A. Sharnick, 77, of Stratford, the owner/operator of Connecticut Avenue Auto Sales, died September 6 at Bridgeport Hospital

Born in Nanticoke, Penn., he was a son of the late Stephen and Bertha Kochiss Sharnick, and was a lifelong Stratford and Bridgeport area resident.

He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen Belfiore Sharnick; a sister, Shirley Thornton; and a brother, Michael Sharnick. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hey and her husband, Jonathan, and Beverly Granata and her husband, Louis, all of Stratford; four sons, Dr Stephen Sharnick and his wife, Iris, of Newtown, Dr Ambrose Sharnick and his wife, JoAnn, of Plymouth, Mass., Russell Sharnick and his wife, Kim, of Stratford, and Richard Sharnick and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Oxford; a brother, Stephen Sharnick of Milford; 11 grandchildren: Christopher and Gregory Hey, Stephen, Brian, Katie, Cory, Tyler, Garrett, Mitchell, Trevor, and Kyle Sharnick; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr Sharnick was a World War II US Navy veteran, and was a member of VFW Post 9460, Stratford, the Fayerweather Yacht Club, and the Slovak Catholic Sokol.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, on September 10. Interment followed in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
