Alcohol Incident
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Kevin McCarthy, 18, of 12 Elana Lane went to the police station about 8 pm on April 30 and was arrested on three charges, police report.
Police charged McCarthy with possession of alcohol by a minor in a public place, sale or delivery of alcohol to a minor, and simple trespassing.
Police have said that they received information about the presence of a suspicious vehicle in the Keating Farms Avenue area at Fairfield Hills about 11:35 pm on January 16, so they went there to investigate. After that vehicle was located, two people were found nearby, police have said.
Based on their investigation of that January incident, police then applied for and received a court warrant for McCarthyâs arrest.
Following processing on April 30, police released McCarthy on a written promise to appear on May 11 in Danbury Superior Court.
Drill Found
While a neighborhood roadside cleanup project was underway on April 24, a volunteer located a blue Makita-brand cordless power drill alongside the roadway near 35 Boggs Hill Road, near Boggs Hill Roadâs intersection with Valley View Road, police said. The device is a Makita model #6012-HD drill. The owner may claim it the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Warrant
Police report they arrested Jernel Paul, 21, of Bridgeport on a warrant on April 30, charging Paul with failure to have automotive insurance,
Police said the charge stems from a four-vehicle auto accident that occurred on January 29 on South Main Street, just south of its intersection with Mile Hill Road.
After processing, police released Paul on $100 bail for a May 12 court appearance.
Four Violations
While on traffic enforcement patrol, police said they spotted motorist Kyle Mosgrove, 19, of 12 Farview Drive driving a vehicle while not wearing a seatbelt near the intersection of Church Hill Road and Dayton Street at about 10:40 am May 2.
Police said they stopped Mosgrove to investigate, after which they charged him with failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to carry a driverâs license, failure to have automotive insurance, and misuse of marker plates.
After processing, police released Mosgrove on a written promise to appear May 18 in Danbury Superior Court.
Sandy Hook Incident
Motorist Susan Griffing, 47, of Derby was driving a 2004 Subaru vehicle westward on Berkshire Road (Route 34), near its intersection with Great Quarter Road at about 6:30 am May 2, when a deer ran out onto the road, resulting in a collision, police said.
Griffing reported the incident to police that afternoon, police said. Griffing was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Two MV Charges
State police report a motor vehicle accident in a parking lot at Garner Correctional Institution at 50 Nunnawauk Road about 12:15 am April 29.
Following that accident, state police said they charged motorist Kevin OâMeara, 30, of Waterbury with driving with a suspended license and with driving an unregistered vehicle.
OâMeara was released on $500 bail for an upcoming court appearance, state police said.
I-84 Arrest
State police report that they arrested motorist Carlos McCoy, 32, of Meriden at about 9:30 pm May 1 on westbound Interstate 84.
State police said they charged McCoy with reckless driving for driving more than 85 mph, and also with a driverâs license violation.
McCoy was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges
South Main Collision
Police report that motorist Kathleen Colangelo, 55, of 29 Housatonic Drive was driving a 2001 Lexus ES-300 sedan westward on the driveway at 305 South Main Street about 3:40 pm April 29, when she attempted to make a right turn out of the driveway and enter South Main Street, police said.
In attempting to make that turn, the Lexus, however, collided with a commercial construction trailer that was properly parked on the street, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Colangelo for making a restricted turn.
