South Main DUI
Police report they saw motorist Peggianne Langford, 38, of 17 Round Hill Road driving southbound on South Main Street without her marker plate light illuminated about 2 am on July 6. Police said Langford also crossed over the roadâs centerline, entering the northbound lane.
Police stopped Langford and gave her field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and failure to have a marker plate illuminated.
Police released her on a $50 bond for a July 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Moving Violations
Police conducted a seat belt enforcement project on the evening of July 6 at the Exit 11 off-ramp of Interstate 84.
Police said they spotted motorist Juan Garcia, 38, of New Haven driving without wearing his seat belt, so they stopped him to investigate. Police charged Garcia with failure to wear a seat belt, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and failure to notify the state of an address change.
After processing those charges, police released Garcia on a promise to appear July 18 in Danbury Superior Court.
Police had learned that New Haven police wanted Garcia on a warrant on charges of second-degree failure to appear in court and third-degree assault. Police transported Garcia to New Haven so that he could be charged with those crimes.
DUI/Drug Charges
Police said they received calls reporting a motorist driving erratically on the evening of July 6, after which they stopped driver John Castro 45, of Danbury at Exit 11 of Interstate 84.
Police charged Castro with driving under the influence, possession of illegal narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said they held Castro on a $200 bond for a July 8 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
South Main Accident
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of South Main Street, Country Club Road, and Mile Hill Road about 11 am July 1.
The crash involved motorist Jeannette Angell, 79, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1994 Buick LeSabre, and motorist Richard Keiser, 41, of Oxford, who was driving a 1988 Mack dump truck, police said.
The collision occurred on southbound South Main Streetâs âleft turnâ lane for Mile Hill Road.
There were no injuries. Police issued Angell a written warning for making a restricted turn and for failure to carry automotive insurance.
Sandy Hook Collision
Police report a two-car collision at the intersection of Route 34 and Toddy Hill Road about 7:23 pm July 5.
Motorist Mike Farka, 17, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2002 Honda CRV westbound on Route 34, stopped at a red traffic signal and was struck from behind by westbound motorist Kristin Serowik, 19, of Milford, who was driving a 1989 Honda Accord-LX, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Serowik a written warning for following too closely.
I-84 DUI
State police said they saw motorist Frank Mosquera, 27, of Danbury driving very slowly and having difficulty staying in the established lane, while traveling on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 11, about 1:19 am July 4.
State police stopped Mosquera and charged him with driving under the influence. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court July 15 to answer the charge.
On-Ramp
While entering the Exit 10 on-ramp of eastbound Interstate 84 about 2:30 am July 8, motorist Ignalio Rios-Montes, 38, of Danbury, who was driving a 1989 Toyota pickup truck, attempted to drive past a vehicle that was stopped on the ramp, but in doing so, the truck hit guard cabling on the right road shoulder, state police said. Rios-Montes was not injured. State police said Rios-Montes was driving without a driverâs license and he failed to negotiate a turn.
Highway Crash
State police report a two-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 84, about 4,000 feet east of Exit 11, about 5 pm July 4.
State police said a gray vehicle cut sharply into the travel lane where motorist Mark Mansoun, Jr, 21, of Southbury was driving a 1991 Nissan Stanza. The Nissan then struck the gray vehicle from behind, state police said.
Both vehicles stopped, but the unidentified driver of the gray vehicle then drove away, fleeing the accident scene, state police said. There were no injuries or enforcement actions.
Auto Damaged
Police said that sometime between 11 pm July 4 and 3:50 am July 5, someone damaged a blue 1994 Pontiac Grand Am that was parked near 30 Underhill Road in the Riverside section of Sandy Hook.
The vandal broke a window on the auto, deflated a tire, poured antifreeze into the vehicleâs interior, and smeared food on the auto, plus other damage. Also, speakers and amplifiers were stolen from the carâs trunk.

Scudder Road
Motorist Ian Walker, 18, of 4 Spring Road was driving a 1991 Volvo 240 sedan southbound on Scudder Road near 14 Scudder Road about 10:56 pm July 7, when Walker failed to keep to the right and crossed the roadâs centerline, struck the northbound curb, and landed on a grassy embankment off the road. A wrecker towed the stuck Volvo off the bank.
There were no injuries. Police issued Walker a written warning for failure to keep to the right on a curve.
