The Five Tibetans — A four-class course starting October 4, 7 pm to 8:15 pm, $99. Students will learn five vital and dynamic exercises practiced by Tibetan Lamas for generations designed to stem the aging process. Rhapsodized as the “fountain of youth,” the practices increase strength, energy, and mental alertness. Once students have fully integrated these moving and meditation practices into their daily life, they will feel their profound and lasting effect. Bring a yoga mat.

Healing Ourselves, Families, And The World — A seven-class course starting October 3, 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, $39 per class or $199 for the full course. This is an experiential seven-week workshop on creating health and harmony using simple yet powerful tools that activate self-healing abilities. Participants have said these classes are deep, transformational, and life-changing. Each class includes a specific tool students can use in their daily routine and a unique mindfulness technique. Students can choose to attend individual classes or all seven. Week one will focus on the body’s energy centers; week two will focus on creating a sacred space; week three will focus on shamanic journeys; week four will focus on “Ayurveda, tapping, and transformation;” week five will focus on crystals, color, and chakras; week six will focus on “Diving with the I’Ching, Manifesting, and Oracle Cards”; and week seven will focus on “Clearing Ancestral Karma, Fire Ceremony, and Rites of the Womb.”

Resume Writing — A one-class course on October 4, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, $49. This one-hour presentation teaches the dos and don’ts of resume writing, myths, and outlines exactly what goes into a top-notch resume to make the best first impression to a potential employer.

Ballroom Dancing — A four-class course starting October 4, 7 pm to 8 pm, $99 per couple or $51 single. Learn the Fox Trot, Waltz, Cha-Cha, and more. Joe Williams and Noni Low have been dancing together for more than 21 years and teaching ballroom dance for beginners to advanced for more than 15 years. Their basic concept of ballroom dancing consists of having fun with easy to learn instructions. Couples and singles welcome.

Paint Your Pet — A one-class course being offered on two nights, on October 4 or October 24, 6 pm to 8:30 pm, $69. Imagine the thrill of having the image of a precious fur baby captured on a 12 by 12 canvas. Students should not worry if they have never sketched before or that their artwork is geared more to a game of Pictionary. The class will guarantee that the finished result will mirror the pet. After students submit an electronic, clear, close-up photo, of their pet after registering, Color On Wheels will send the files to the artist, who will transfer a pencil sketch of the outline and features onto the canvas. On the evening of class, the instructor will guide students to paint the background and then work with individuals to paint and shade to create the image of their loved one. Stop The Weight Gain Villain, Foods to Avoid and Foods to Embrace — One single-class course, October 9, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $39. For those who have been gaining weight and want to lose a few pounds or maintain their weight, the course will cover why skipping breakfast causes weight gain, which foods put weight on, and why eating protein at every meal is so important. Other topics that will be covered include how being overweight contributes to health risks and the difference between a healthy and unhealthy weight loss program. Students will learn lifestyle modifications to help you lose weight.

Finding a Job in Today’s Market — A three-class course starting October 11, 7 pm to 9 pm, $89. For those who want to search for a new job but do not know where to start, or who are looking for a new opportunity, the course will help students discover how to successfully prepare for a new role, including skills identification, resume development, search techniques, and effective interviewing strategies. This course is limited to 12 participants.

Estate Planning and the 40 Relevant Necessary Documents — A one-class course on October 10, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $29. An estate plan is the “greatest gift” for family members and loved ones. People do not have to be a millionaire to think about estate planning, rather estate planning can eliminate confusion for family members. An estate plan and related asset profile are becoming essential life-planning tools. This course will take students through a comprehensive plan and the steps that need to be taken in developing an asset profile and the related documents.

Plan Your Social Security With Confidence — A one-class course on October 11, 6:30 pm to 8 pm, $29. This ninety-minute presentation covers Social Security basics and reveals strategies for maximizing benefits. The class will discuss minimizing taxes on Social Security benefits and coordination of the Social Security benefit with other sources of retirement income. The class will welcome questions about Social Security benefits as students explore their personal options.

Handcrafted Greeting Cards — A three-class course starting October 10, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $69. Send sentiments from the heart with a handcrafted card. Learn assorted paper crafting techniques and practice them during this fun and easy card-making class. Each participant will have the opportunity to test and use different cutting tools, coloring agents, and get familiar with common card and envelope sizes. All skill levels welcome. A materials fee of $30 is payable to the instructor on the first night of class.

Flowers 101 And Floral Design — A one-class course on October 11, 7 pm to 9 pm, $35. This two-hour course will explore various types of flowers while students learn which flowers are in season when, about the floral industry as it is today, and about the push for locally grown, community supported organic flowers. The second half of the class will speak to principles of floral design and the overall creative expression that flower arranging brings. As part of this interactive course, participants will get to design their own one of a kind arrangements or floral head dresses to take home at the end of class. A materials fee of $15 is payable to the instructor the first night of class. No discounts apply.

Cover Letter Writing — A one-class course on October 11, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, $49. This one-hour presentation teaches the dos and don’ts of cover letter writing, its purpose, and outlines exactly what goes into a top-notch cover letter to make the best first impression to a potential employer.

Halloween Spooktacular — A trip to Tarrytown, N.Y., October 13, departs Newtown approximately at 2 pm, $124. The tour begins with a visit to an outdoor location site of the famed 1960s’ soap opera, Dark Shadows, the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Here trip-goers will trace the footsteps of Washington Irving’s most famous character, Ichabod Crane, in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and walk to the author’s final resting place. Having worked up an appetite, attendees will eat at the El Dorado Diner. A choice of three lunches will be offered, including a vegetarian plate. The trip will then bring attendees to the Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze at Van Cortland Manor. Here, they will meander through a historic, 18th Century riverside landscape and discover a breathtaking display of art sculptures made of carved, lit jack o’ lanterns. The detail of the carved jack o’ lanterns is an amazing sight in and of itself, but then to see these glowing globes mounted together to create a theme or sculpture is beyond jaw-dropping. This tour requires quite a bit of walking. Trips are nonrefundable and run rain or shine. The price of the tour is all inclusive. No discounts apply.
