Stabbing Prompts Four Charges

Police lodged four criminal charges against a local man on the night of April 6, following a stabbing incident at his residence.

Police said they charged Jaime Gracia, 22, of 28-A Sugar Street with second degree assault, threatening, unlawful restraint, and disorderly conduct.

At about 7:45 pm, Gracia became involved in an argument with his unidentified girlfriend, after which he allegedly pushed her down and held her down, holding his arm across her chest, police said.

Felipe Campos, 45, also of 28-A Sugar Street, then separated Gracia and Gracia’s girlfriend, police said. Gracia and Campos then became involved in an argument, police added.

Gracia then allegedly stabbed Campos twice in the stomach with a pair of scissors and threatened to kill Campos, police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Campos to Danbury Hospital for treatment of his stab wounds, according to police.

Campos was treated for his injuries and then released, a hospital spokeswomen said April 7.

Police held Gracia on $25,000 bail for arraignment on the four criminal charges on April 7 in Danbury Superior Court.
