Devoted Mother And Member Of St Rose
Patricia âPatâ McGorry, 68, a longtime Newtown resident, died February 11, at the Connecticut Hospice in Brandon, after a prolonged bout with cancer. She was born October 19, 1943, to Betty and Vincent McGorry in Flushing, N.Y. She grew up in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
Ms McGorryâs career took her on a path that included work for Young & Rubicam Advertising in New York and a stint at the New York Foundling Hospital. After settling in Newtown and raising her daughter, Yvonne, she returned to the workforce as an executive assistant, including a long stay at Panolam Industries in Shelton.
She was also a devoted member of St Rose of Lima parish in Newtown, where she worshipped regularly.
Her daughter, Yvonne Burke Malone of Middlefield; and a brother, Ken McGorry of Manhasset, N.Y., survive Ms McGorry. She was also the loving sister of the late Barbara Moosbrugger of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.
Ms McGorry will be remembered at a wake, Friday, February 17, from 5 to 7 pm, at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. A funeral Mass will be held at noon, Saturday, February 18, at St Maryâs Church, 1300 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, N.Y.
