Eric Wismar To Be Ordained August 29
Eric Andrew Wismar, son of Rev Gregory and Priscilla Wismar of Mt Pleasant Road, will be ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry at a special service at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd located at Colonial Road and Route 37 in New Fairfield.
The ordination ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 29, at 4 pm.
Also taking place after the ordination service will be the installation of the new Rev Wismar as associate pastor to the congregation at Good Shepherd.
A supper reception to honor Pastor Wismar, his wife Miharu, and their sons Jorge and Kai, will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Mr Wismar graduated from Newtown High School, from Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y., and from Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Mo.
The speaker at the service will be the Rev Barry Keurlainen of St Lukeâs Lutheran Church in Cabot, Penn., where Mr Wismar spent a year as a parish intern prior to completing his seminary sequence earlier this month.
When ordained, the Rev Eric Wismar will be continuing the tradition of a long line of clergy from many generations in his family. He will be the sixth generation in the United States and the 15th generation of Lutheran clergy in a succession dating back to Germany in the 1500s.
The new pastor and his wife and family will be residing in the church parsonage on Old Bridge Road East, New Fairfield.
