James Jay Morrow, 73, of Newtown, died October 4, after a long illness. Born August 19, 1941, in Billings, Mont., he was known to his family and friends as Jay.

Mr Morrow graduated from the University of Montana with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. After college, he entered the US Navy where he served in active duty for five years, and in the Naval Reserves for 20 years. He retired from the Navy in 1989, with the rank of commander.

He worked for Tetley Tea in Shelton as a sales planning manager. He enjoyed acting and was a member of the Town Players in Newtown. He also enjoyed restoring antique firearms. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying American history, particularly the American Civil War and World War II eras.

His wife, Nan; his two sons, Jason and Scott, and their wives, Patricia and Lindsay; eight sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren, Jack and Grace, survive Mr Morrow.

A memorial service will take place at noon, Saturday, October 11, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Friends may call Saturday morning from 11 am to noon.
