Support For Katrina Relief
Support For Katrina Relief
To the Editor:
The Newtown Force Softball team wishes to thank our friends, family, and neighbors for their enormous support of our Katrina Hurricane Relief effort September 9â11.
With your generous donations, we collected, sorted and delivered over 50 45-gallon bags of clothes, ten boxes of shoes, and many toys, diapers, baby wipes, and personal products, enough to fill a pickup truck and a 12 foot trailer! These items were delivered to the Thomas Recreation Center in Lafayette and will be distributed to a shelter at the Cajun Dome on the campus of the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. The money that was collected paid for the trailer and gas to drive down and back.
Everyone we talked to in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of donations and volunteers from across the country. It will take a long time and a continuous effort to rebuild/repair the damage Katrina caused, we need to keep them in our prayers.
Thanks for everything,
Dave Broughton
