Open Farm Day At Sunny Valley
Open Farm Day At Sunny Valley
NEW MILFORD â In September 2010, Sunny Valley Preserve hosted its eighteenth annual Open Farm Day. Over 1,200 visitors explored its main farm, maneuvered through a corn maze, met friendly farm animals, and enjoyed tractor rides. Over the past nineteen years, Open Farm Day has proven to be a popular event and a valuable educational experience that familiarizes the community with agricultural heritage and the importance of preserving it.
This yearâs event will be Saturday, September 17, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the farm, 8 Sunny Valley Lane. Admission is free.
Several demonstrations will be held all day including soap making by Goatboy Soap of New Milford, wool spinning by Cathy Setterlin, and maple syrup making by New Milford Youth Agency. There will also be informational displays, antique and new farm equipment, animals to meet, tractor rides, a corn maze and refreshments.
New this year will be offerings of Story Time with Clover, a 3-year old pot belly pig, and the opportunity for guests to meet Gunnar and Squeak, miniature donkeys.
This event is rain or shine, however, in the event of inclement weather call 860-355-3716 for a recorded message on the status of the event. More information is available at www.nature.org/sunnyvalley.
