Police Investigate Sandy Hook Bar Incident
Police said they are investigating an incident at a Sandy Hook bar/restaurant in which a man alleges that another man pointed a gun at him, threatening him.
In a brief statement, police said, âOn Saturday, June 9, 2007, at approximately 2:42 am, the Newtown Police Department received a phone call from an individual. The person reported that at approximately 1:30 am, a person, who he did not know, pointed a gun at him. The incident reportedly took place in the bathroom at 100 Church Hill Road Restaurant, 100 Church Hill Roadâ¦The caller had left the establishment prior to calling the police department.â
Police Chief Michael Kehoe declined to provide details about the incident. âWe are investigating,â he said.
If any arrest were to be made in the case, it would be done so through an arrest warrant, he said. Possible charges stemming from such an incident could include second-degree threatening or breach of peace, he said.
A published report in The Adovcate of Stamford on June 13 indicated that the man who allegedly made the threatening gesture with a gun is a Norwalk police officer who has been disciplined by Norwalk police for the alleged June 9 incident, and who has been disciplined for previous incidents.
Chief Kehoe declined to comment on that report.
