Mary Eleanor (Charland) Duda, 88, of Newtown, died November 8 at Ashlar of Newtown. She was the widow of William Duda. Born in Bridgeport to Alcide and Winifred Connor Charland, her given name was Mary Atudien Charland.

She was a longtime resident of Fairfield and California.

She is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Joan Marilyn Kopnicki and her husband, Clement, of Newtown; two sons, Gregory Duda and his wife, Jan, of Grass Valley, Calif., and Brian Duda of San Jose, Calif.; one grandson, Lyle Kopnicki; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held November 13 in the Pistey Funeral Home, Stratford, with the Reverend Guido Montanaro officiating. Interment was in St Michael Cemetery.
