Truck Vs Building

At about 10:43 am on December 9, motorist Orlando Fajardo, 34, of Danbury was driving a 1996 Toyota pickup truck southward on South Main Street and was preparing to make a right turn onto Meadowbrook Road, when southbound motorist Michael Carrafiello, 18, of 83 Sugar Street, who was driving a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck, attempted to pass the Toyota on the right, police report.

The two trucks collided and then the Chevrolet continued onward, striking Swanky Franks of Newtown, a restaurant at 314 South Main Street.

There were no injuries. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident. Carrafiello received an infraction for illegal passing on the right, according to police. Fajardo received an infraction for driving without a license, police report.

Moving Violations

Police said they stopped motorist Evan Smith, 29, of Danbury on Berkshire Road near Pole Bridge Road about 1:45 am on December 22 to investigate because Smith’s rear marker plate was not illuminated.

Police said they charged Smith with failure to have a rear marker plate illuminated and with driving with a suspended license. Police said they released Smith on $100 bail for a January 5 court appearance.

Also, Newtown police said they turned over Smith to Danbury police who held a warrant on him.

South Main Collision

Police Officer Matthew Wood, 36, was driving a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria police car northward near 317 South Main Street about 12:18 am on December 21, when a deer ran out onto the roadway, police said. Wood braked to avoid an accident, but the sedan and the deer collided, police said. Wood was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Poverty Hollow

About 4:51 pm on December 21, motorist Alexander Tolnay, 40, of Norwalk was driving a 2007 Ford Edge SUV northward near 73 Poverty Hollow Road, when a deer ran onto the street, resulting in a collision, police said. Tolnay was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Intersection Accident

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the four-way intersection of Hattertown Road, Key Rock Road, and Poverty Hollow Road about 5:17 pm on December 21.

The accident involved motorist Marissa Novotny, 29, of 18-B Philo Curtis Road, who was driving a 2011 Nissan Murano SUV, and motorist Kenneth Rubin, 41, of 22 Hi Barlow Road, who was driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Novotny a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign.
