A Great Team For Connecticut
To the Editor:
Connecticut is suffering economically due to failed leadership by governors and State Legislatures for at least two decades. The good news is in January we will have a new governor. The best choice for governor is Ned Lamont, but regardless of who prevails, we will have a new governor in January. The best way forward is to have new legislators to work with that new governor.
We are fortunate to have a good choice for our new State Senator, Michelle McCabe. She will work well with our own Rebekah Harriman Stites, hopefully our new 106th District State Representative, a dynamic team to make sure that Newtown’s interests are well-represented.
To quote The Newtown Bee, Michelle McCabe “pledges to bring constituent-driven perspectives and a gift for turning analysis to action” in the State Senate. “Michelle has demonstrated a significant ability to make systemic changes with limited resources and to build coalitions while remaining focused on getting the results necessary to guarantee success.” This is the skill set required to solve the serious fiscal problems confronting Connecticut.
Along with proper education funding, Michelle will focus on attracting businesses into the district because a number of the issues concerning residents and the affordability factor are tied to the number of businesses paying property taxes and providing jobs. She has said that as a taxpayer, she knows the state cannot continue to “keep dipping into the same well to address budget shortfalls.” Another priority for Michelle will be to look for solutions and programs to keep young people from leaving Connecticut, which continues to be a serious problem for our future economic viability.
Join me on November 6 in voting for Michelle McCabe, State Senator; Rebekah Harriman Stites, State Representative; and Ned Lamont, Governor. They will make a great team!
Sincerely,
Herb Rosenthal
