BROOKFIELD — The Sandy Hook-based LOF Adaptive Skiers, an organization benefiting people with disabilities, invites the public to Candlewood East Marina’s Fourth Annual Car Show on Sunday August 23, from 10 am to 3 pm.

The marina is at 204 Candlewood Lake Road, Brookfield.

Classic cars of all ages, domestics and imports, will be on display. In addition, there will be entertainment, food, and raffles.

Admission is $15 and all proceeds will benefit the nonprofit LOF Adaptive Skiers, which provides adaptive waterski/wakeboarding and snow ski/snowboarding instruction to persons with disabilities.

“The staff at Candlewood East Marina has been contributing their time and effort to this car show for the past four years and we’re very grateful for their support,” said LOF Executive Director Joel Zeisler. “Our programs are open to all ages and disabilities, and are always free of charge. Fundraisers like this car show are key to helping fund our adaptive programs so we are hoping for a good community turn-out.”

Rain date for the car show will be Sunday, August 30.

Mitch O’Hara, Jr, VP, Candlewood East Marina said, “We love to see people actively engaged on the water and enjoying themselves. We’re delighted to host this event for LOF. Their programs make it possible for children, adults, and veterans with disabilities to participate in water sports, and that’s very meaningful to a business like ours.”

For  22 years, LOF Adaptive Skiers has been breaking down barriers for people with disabilities to participate in outdoor sports and recreation activities. Located on Lake Zoar, LOF Adaptive Skiers is a nonprofit organization serving 600 children, adults, and veterans with disabilities annually. Their adaptive water and snow ski programs provide challenging and meaningful outdoor activities that build physical fitness, greater independence, confidence and lasting friendships. LOF Adaptive Skiers runs one of the largest and safest adaptive water sports programs in the country.

In addition to waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing and kayaking, LOF Adaptive Skiers offers beginner level snow ski and snowboard instruction during the winter months.

A car show at Candlewood East Marina in Brookfield on Sunday, August 21, will double as a fundraiser for Sandy Hook-based LOF Adaptive Skiers.
