Is That What I Think It Is?

While there are a few towns in the United States that pride themselves on being regular homes to white squirrels — Brevard, N.C., and Olney, Ill., both call themselves Home of The White Squirrels — seeing a white derivative of the common Eastern gray squirrel can still make one pause in these parts. Perhaps it’s a fluke of nature similar to the recent return of cicadas, but seeing this white squirrel in the front yard of a home on The Old Road recently made one driver turn around for a second look.                                                                                                                                 —Bee Photo, Hicks
