Lions Launch Annual Mustang Raffle
Lions Launch Annual Mustang Raffle
The Newtown Lions Club is starting its annual Mustang Car Raffle. Passersby will once again see a Mustang convertible parked across South Main Street from Amaral Motors.
Each year a different car is raffled. This yearâs vehicle is a maroon 1966 classic with a V8 engine and automatic transmission. Last yearâs car was a red 1965 model and was won by an upstate New York car buff.
The car raffle is the largest and most important fundraising activity sponsored by the Lions. Proceeds will be used to benefit a wide range of community, state, and national projects and charities with a special focus on blindness prevention research, juvenile diabetes, drug awareness programs, and assistance to the underprivileged.
Last yearâs raffle proceeds were distributed to numerous community projects and regional programs including AmeriCares, Kevinâs Community Center, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Danbury Low Vision Center, Meals On Wheels, the Newtown Summer Festival, Booth Library, Newtown Youth Services, Ability Beyond Disability, and many others. The Lions also contributed to national diabetes awareness projects and the Lions Club International Fund.
Raffle tickets are available at Amaral Motors, the Booth Library, The Drug Center, Dodgingtown Garage, Newtown Car Wash, Yankee Discount Wine & Spirits, and the Newtown General Store. They are also available at the office of optometrist Dr Wong at LensCrafters in the Danbury Mall or from any Lions Club member. The winner need not be present at the meeting.
