Newtown Rotary To Serve Up Pancakes, Amber Alert IDs

Newtown Rotary Club will be serving its annual pancake breakfast in the Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall on Saturday, December 5, from 8 am to 1 pm. Ticket prices for this all-you-can-eat fundraiser are $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and under.

“This is the 49th year in a row that the Rotary Club has sponsored this event,” said Rotary Club President Bill Calderara. “Coming to Pancake Day has become an important holiday tradition for many people in Newtown.”

In addition to the breakfast, Rotary Club will also be offering Amber Alert ID cards for any children who come to Edmond Town Hall on Saturday morning. Teaming up with the Danbury Rotary Club, Newtown Rotary will make available to parents a wallet-sized plastic card for each child that contains minimal yet essential information and a digital color photo. These cards can be extremely helpful in finding a child who becomes lost or is abducted.

In addition to the card, strongly encrypted computer data, not connected to the Internet or any other system, can be accessed by the state police to assist in finding a missing child.

Newtown Rotary will make one card available for each child at no cost. Duplicate cards will cost $2 each.

For additional information about the breakfast or the Amber Alert program, call Larry Gardner, 203-733-9813.
