NEWTOWN 27, NEW MILFORD 0: Justin McGrath scored three touchdowns and had a standout game on defense to lead the 89ers to a convincing win over New Milford, raising their record to 3-2 on the season.

The game started on a fine note as McGrath turned in a good kickoff return. Newtown worked its way down field for McGrath’s first TD and Mark Scheuneman ran in the extra point for a 7-0 Newtown lead. Junior Pee Wees

NEWTOWN 21, NEW MILFORD 0: The Junior Pee Wees might have started the game on defense, but they quickly turned it to offense enroute to an easy win over New Milford.

Joe Bowen and Brian Stickles helped the defense stop New Milford on its first possession, getting the ball on a turnover on downs. Soon after, Tucker Kass scored a touchdown, Joey DeVellis added an extra point, and Newtown was ahead 7-0.

The JPWs were quickly back on offense when DeVellis recovered an onside kick. Newtown did march down to the New Milford 29 yard line, but had to give the ball up on downs. Jake Benson and Tom Gaboriault, however, made sure that New Milford fared no better on offense.

A TD pass from DeVellis to Kass capped off a Newtown drive and the Junior Pee Wees, following the extra point by Kass, were ahead 14-0.

Newtown received the ball to start the second half. It picked up three first downs as it drove towards its third touchdown of the game. DeVellis ran the ball in for the score as well as for the extra point, giving Newtown its 21-0 lead.

Pee Wees
