Young Adults

*New YA Health database is online!

Teen Health & Wellness: Real Life, Real Answers, can be accessed directly from our webpage both at home and in the library; visit biblio.org/YAWebSpot and look for the link for Teen health & Wellness – New! under the photo in the center of the page.

This comprehensive database is set up for teens to research health-related issues important to their well-being. It’s a user-friendly research and report tool as well as a self-help resource. The content is updated regularly and checked for accuracy. Young adults and those who care about them will find that this resource is something they can refer to often.

Adult Programs

Dr George Geckle will lecture on the play about a 16th Century merchant who must default on a loan from a bitter creditor. Dr Geckle is professor emeritus at the University of South Carolina, with strong ties to the Newtown community. He has written several books on Shakespeare and other literary subjects.

His lecture is planned for Tuesday, January 8, at 7 pm.

A screening of the 2004 film The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons, will be offered on Tuesday, January 15, at 7 pm.

*Putting Your Past on Paper: There’s an African proverb which says, “When an old man dies, a library burns down.”

Don’t let your family’s library burn down. Join us at the library for a memoir writing workshop with Linda Chiara on January 15, from 3 to 4:30 pm.

The program is free but we do request that you call the library at 426-4533 to let us know you plan on attending.

*Get Organized! Come to a free panel discussion with professional organizers Cara Brook and Jill McKean on Tuesday, January 22, at 7 pm.

Attendees will learn some great time management tips plus find out how to pare down and simplify. The program is free and refreshments will be served.

The library recently expand its hours and is now open earlier every morning. The new hours are Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday from 11 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. The library, at 25 Main Street, can be reached at 426-4533 or visit CHBoothLibrary.org.
