Girls U14

Hurricanes 2, Torrington 2 – Goals by Jen Brewer and Kelley Sullivan gave the locals the lead heading into the second half, but Torrington got a late equalizer to saddle the ‘Canes with their fourth draw of the season. Midfielder Colleen Lynch and defenders Sarah Feinstein and Cara Colacurcio turned in fine efforts.

Hurricanes 1, Middlebury 1 – Jen Brewer scored the lone Newtown goal off an assist from Adelle Cerreta. Kelley Anne Carney, Haley Keane, Erin Nemeth and Danielle Norris provided stellar offensive pressure as goalie Emily Kluga and sweeper Natalie Villa turned away any chances Middlebury had in the second half.

Girls U13

Rampage 3, New Fairfield 1 – Sam Lockhart, Vanessa Richards and Meghan Wilson scored the goals that lifted the Rampage to the win. Katie Pessin was solid in goal while sweeper Kirsten Hudock played well.

Boys U13

Torrington 4, Newtown 2 – Adam Buccino and George Zaruba each contributed goals as Newtown fell to Torrington. Andy Lapple, Dan Greenwood, and Casey Tenney led the defense while Collin Jacob and Chris McCann were strong in the midfield. Eric Keogler and Xjulio Halili played well on offense.

Newtown 6, Sherman 1 – Kyle Kromberg scored a pair of goals as Adam Buccino, Eric Keogler, Collin Jacob, and George Zaruba scored a goal apiece to lead Newtown. Dan Greenwood, Matt Slattery and Ben Miles paced the D as Chris McCann and Matt Baier controlled the midfield.

Boys U12

Danbury 5, Strikers 1 – Eric Thornberg scored the lone Newtown goal. Nicolas Wright, Daniel Hufziger, and Alex Miller provided offensive support. Josh Engler, Ryan Pasko and Aaron Nezvesky played well.

Girls U12

The Newtown Roadrunners faced stiff competition but finished second in a field of six at the Wilton Nutmeg Invitational Tournament.

Trumbull 1, Roadrunners 0 – Stoppers Becca Jaroszewski and Jill Jagoe played great while Lauren Meyer, Sarah Murtha and Emma Kingsley controlled the midfield.

Roadrunners 1, Greenwich 0 – Sarah Attanasio scored the lone goal. Becca Castegner and Alex Israel put constant offensive pressure on the Greenwich goal.

Roadrunners 3, Stamford 1 – KellyAnne Brophy netted the first two goals off assists from Lauren Meyer and Ali Pliszka. Kaitlin Brophy score the third goal to ice the game. The defense of Ali Pliszka, Kelly O’Connor and Sarah Attanasio was outstanding in neutralizing the high powered Stamford offense.

Roadrunners 2, Wilton 1 – KellyAnne Brophy and Kaitlin Brophy scored the goals and Casey Rutter made a great save in the final minutes to secure the win. Kristin Stoller and Alex Israel played great games.

Boys U10

The Cobras went undefeated (3-0-2) at the recent Memorial Day Kick-Off Tournament, allowing one lone goal.

Cobras 0, Southbury 0 – The defense played flawlessly, led by Sean Elliott in goal and Noah Sock and Pieter Martino on defense and aided by Francis Saraceni and Matt Rahtelli. Eric Fiore and Keegan Lombard controlled midfield.

Cobras 2, Fairfield O’Day 0 – Connor Quinn scored two goals to lead the Cobras. Sean Elliott and Matt Rahtelli shared time in the net for the shutout. Nick Barreto, Chris Erikson and Eric Fiore controlled the midfield while Danny Bittman and Andrew Kelly forged the offense.

Cobras 1, Rockville Center 1 – Connor Quinn netted the lone Newtown goal, assisted by Nick Barreto. Dan Bittman and Eric Fiore put on constant offense pressure while Keegan Lombard, Noah Sock and Francis Saraceni sparked the D.

Cobras 4, Bethel 0 – Connor Quinn scored a hat trick with Christian Mather adding a goal to lead the Cobras. Nick Barreto dominated the midfield while adding an assist. Matt Rahtelli and Chris Erikson shared the shutout. Brendan Conway and Dan Bittman controlled the ball on both sides of the field.

Cobras 3, Terryville, NY 0 – Nick Barreto, (goal and assist), and Connor Quinn (two goals) led the attack with Stephen Conway and Christian Mather. Sean Elliott minded the net for most of the shutout. The defense led by Keegan Lombard, Pieter Martino, Francis Saraceni and Noah “The Wall” Sock, totally controlled the game.

IN-HOUSE

Girls U14

Rip Tide 4, Mud Monkeys 0 – Maura Gissen scored a pair of goals while Rachel Tayback and Laura Clark notched one apiece to lead the Rip Tide to the win. For the Monkeys, Jessica McDonald and Kaitlyn Connolly played well.

Danbury 2, Rapids 1 – Jillian Thompson scored the lone Newtown goal off assists from Emily Audet and Meredith LaPerch. Goaltender Samantha Whitley had her best game of the year.

Girls U10

Firekickers 4, Firefeet 0 – Jennifer van Veen scored two goals and Kelly van Veen added one to lead the Kickers. Dana Bowers also scored a goal.  For the Firefeet, Daniella Genovese, Haley Naphen, Danielle Wandel and Nicole Rothebucher all played very good games.

Firekickers 4, Mighty Tigers 4 – Kelly van Veen who scored two goals while Dana Bowers and Jennifer van Veen also scored to lead the Kickers. Libby DiDomizio was great in midfield and Emily Molloy was super in goal. For the Tigers, Mallory Reilly notched a pair of goals as Taylor Brady and Shannon O’Gorman scored solo goals. Claire Benson and Bethany Dubois were fantastic in goal.

Fireballs 1, Metrostars 0 (OT) – The Fireballs won on Amanda Stanton’s goal in the shootout. Claire Donnelly was solid on defense as Tami Corsi and Stefanie Clavette were superb in goal. Randi Jackson and Michaela Beaudry played aggressive and Emma Iannini and Celeste Cheung kept the ‘Stars in the game.

Metrostars 3, Firefeet 1 – Emily Brisson and Sidney Hutchinson were strong on defense as Ashley Beckett and Courtney Yapp kept the ball near the goal all day to lead the ‘Stars. For the ‘Feet, Kayla O’Leary scored the goal as Danielle Wandel, Nina Pedalino and Julie LaPerch all played very good games.

Boys U10

Wildfire 1, Mud Monkeys 0 – Stefan Dullinger scored the lone goal in the last minutes of the game to lead the Wildfire to the win. Fredrik Dean provided strong support up front. Alec Lockhart and Peter Kerns were on target in defense. For the Monkeys, strikers Luke Shearin and Jimmy Mooney applied great offensive pressure while Yossi Kohrman-Glaser contributed plenty of midfield action. Defender Luke Piazza assisted with a number of clear-outs.

Pink Muffins 2, Powerful Piglets 0 – Pat Riccardi and Patrick Thornberg scored the goals as Evan Swain played well on offense and Joshua Schvette played well on defense to lead the Muffins. Tyler Coleman made several good saves in goal while Nick Pedalino and Devin DiNicola played hard on offense to lead the Piglets.

Mud Monkeys 1, Eagles 0 – Gavin Scallon scored the lone goal off Logan Puleri’s corner kick to lead the Monkeys to the win. Ricky Fuentes played well in the midfield and Ryan Moyer was solid in net. For the Eagles, David Tortora and Chase Hutchison were tough on defense with Sam Pliszka and Tyler Ruefenacht providing solid offense .

Girls U8

Panthers 6, Thunderbolts 2 – Angela Hallili scored three goals to lead the Panthers. Taylor Lafave, Emily Pieretti and Catherine Jennings added solo goals. Jenny Indelicato and Danielle Shine scored for the Thunderbolts while Olivia Sergiovanni played great defense.

Bull Dogs 3, Panthers 1 – Nicole O’Leary scored two goals and Emily Davis added one to lead the ‘Dogs to the victory. Aine Duffy, Tanner Tardie, Lilia Hutchison and Alyssa Ruefenacht all played well. For the Panthers, Sophie Johnston scored the goal as Nicole Mendoca played well in the net and Danielle Agugliaro had a strong game.

Boys U8

Dragons 2 Blazing Blizzards 1 – Doug Miller scored two goals to lead the Dragons to the win. Kevin Ovendorf, Trevor Connolly and Trey Dewald played well. For the Blizzards, Mitchell Stewart scored the goal while Danny Cummings, Henry Summ and Joe Anastasi had fine performances.

Blue Thunder 3, Wolverines 2 – Connor Roche, Chris Zakur and Harry Solaski scored to lead the Blue Thunder to the win. Bradley Kretz and Nick Robino played well. For the Wolverines, Gentian Limani scored two goals as Charlie Poarch, Michael Alicia and Luke Mammen played well.

Bulldogs 1, Werewolves 1 – Clay Gattey of the Bulldogs and Mathew Wood of the Werewolves scored the goals in this 1-1 draw. For the ‘Dogs, Ryan King and Knute Johnson controlled the defense as Alex Klang and Michael Cook played well on offense. For the ‘Wolves, Brandon Unger played well in goal, Kaustav Mitra played solid offense and Michael Lally controlled the defense.

Wizards 2, Gators 2 – Connor Hanley scored both goals to lead the Wizards. Nick Klein was excellent in goal with several crucial saves. For the Gators, Patrick Berger and Will Dalton scored to goals as Danny Toby had a great game.

Strikers 5, SuperKids 4 – Spencer Tolson scored two goals while Luca Imbimbo, Lucas Palumbo and Albert Dean scored one goal apiece to lead the Strikers to the win. Matthew Maturo and John Carlson each scored two goals for the SuperKids and did an excellent job on offense. Andrew King also did a great job as halfback.
