Wlasuk Sets Record—

Newtown High Track And Field Highlights

It was a busy and successful week for Newtown High’s boys’ and girls’ track and field teams. John Wlasuk set a school record and both squads earned wins in their competitions.

Some members of the boys’ team competed in the 43rd Annual Glenn D. Loucks Games at White Plains (N.Y.) High School, this past weekend. Newtown finished tied for 22nd among 59 teams. Scoring points for Newtown was John Wlasuk who took third place in the discus with a throw of 148-05 and also placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 167-01

Results for the Newtown competitors at the meet were as follows:

Javelin – Fourth, John Wlasuk 167-01; 22nd, Louis Fenaroli 130-09

Discus – Third, John Wlasuk 148-05; 23rd, Louis Fenaroli 109-01

Boys Meet At Musak

The entire NHS squad competed at Masuk High in Monroe on Tuesday and defeated Masuk 88-62 and Stratford 117-32, and fell 93-57 to New Milford. John Wlasuk set a new school record in the discus with his throw of 155-1. This broke the previous record held by Shane Chontos of 152-8.5, set back in 1989.

Girls At Masuk

The Newtown High girls, on Monday, went to Masuk and defeated the host Panthers 79-71, knocked off New Milford 91-59, and toppled Stratford 113-57 to improve to 9-3.
