CCS 'Candlelight And Carols' Holiday Concerts Planned
CCS âCandlelight And Carolsâ Holiday Concerts Planned
Connecticut Choral Society (CCS), under the direction of Eric Dale Knapp, will present its âCandlelight and Carolsâ concerts on Friday, December 12, at 8 pm, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown, and again at 3 pm Saturday, December 13, at North Congregational Church in Woodbury.
The holiday concerts include settings of O Magnum Mysterium by Tomas Luis de Victoria and Morten Lauridsen, Benjamin Brittenâs Ceremony of Carols, John Rutterâs Dancing Day, as well as carols sung with the audience, and other holiday selections.
The group will also present a composition of one of its members, Ron Dukenski of Goshen. The piece, âAnd All Shall Be Well,â was written for his wife Carolyn, for her ordination to the  Episcopal Priesthood in 1998. The text of âAnd All Shall Be Wellâ is based on writings by Julian of Norwich (1342-1417). Julian was a cloistered monastic, an anchoress, who lived in Norwich, England.
Accompaniment for this concert will be provided by harp, organ and piano.
Tickets are $20 and are available at the door, from CCS members, at Woodbury Drugs, Villarinaâs Pasta in Southbury and Newtown, or online at CTChoralSociety.org. For additional information call 203-206-7186.
