A notice posted on the Newtown municipal website informs members of the community that the press event is being held, and to not be alarmed or concerned if a number of media trucks are visible at Fairfield Hills.
"Over the past few weeks we have held a number of press events, hoping that media outlets will respect our request to stay away from town over the weekend of December 14, and thereafter, if we give them opportunities to develop news stories in advance of that anniversary date," the notice states.
The press conference scheduled for the municipal center includes Interim School Superintendent Dr John Reed, Police Chief Michael Kehoe, Newtown Congregational Church Senior pastor Reverend Matt Crebbin, First Selectman Pat Llodra, as well as Cody Foss representing Newtown Youth Academy.
There is no agenda other than to answer questions that are relevant and appropriate, according to the notice. The meeting is not open to the public.
"Space is very tight – we will accommodate those media outlets for whom arrangements have already been made and approved by us," the release notes.
"Thank you for your patience with our efforts to manage the overwhelming interest in our community." The notice concludes: "We are hopeful that these efforts will be successful and that we will be able to have a quiet and reflective next few weeks leading into the holidays."
