Adopt A Cat Or Dog From The Animal Center

The following cats and dogs are among those available for adoption through the Animal Center:

CINDERELLA is a purry, sweet gray tabby who enjoys being petted. Cinderella had been living outside with a large group of community cats. She always rubbed up against Animal Center volunteers for petting and affection, so they brought her into the foster program, where she is adjusting easily to being warm and safe. She is healthy, spayed, and current on vaccines. 

NEW KITTY is a friendly, affectionate, and very sweet cat who was found in the fall on Honey Lane in Sandy Hook. The kind family who found him has put up “Found Cat” posters, but no one has claimed him. Animal Center officials believe that he was left behind when his owners moved. New Kitty loves to have his belly rubbed and would be a great addition to any household looking for an affectionate four legged companion. 

AGGIE is a very playful kitty who has adapted beautifully from a once shy, free-roaming cat to one who loves human attention. Aggie started her life as a community cat, and Animal Center officials first met her when her caretaker was evicted from her home in Sandy Hook. Aggie was cared for outside with her feline friends until the winter, when she was brought into The Animal Center’s program to live with a foster family. Nicknamed Peanut for her diminutive size, Aggie is not small on personality. She loves to bat toys around and playfully chase her foster friend, Cecily around. Cecily is also from this community cat colony. Aggie shows no signs of missing outdoor life and, each day, grows more comfortable with people and the noises of busy human life. Aggie has many special qualities, including wagging her tail like a puppy to show she’s happy. Aggie is approximately two years old, spayed, healthy, and current on vaccines.

CECILY is a sweet kitty who, after living outside as part of a group of community cats, is loving the touch of humans. Cecily was part of group of neighborhood cats cared for by a Sandy Hook woman until she got evicted. Animal Center officials recently brought Cecily into the foster program, along with her feline pal, Aggie, and they’re loving life. Once so shy she would run away from people, Cecily makes great progress each day adjusting to human noises, being inside, and enjoying lots of petting. Cecily loves to run and chase Aggie, and although she keeps a watchful eye on the wildlife through the window, she is very happy being inside during these cold days and nights. Cecily is about three years old, spayed, healthy, and current on vaccines.

PUMPKIN is a friendly and affectionate 18 month old orange tiger cat who would adjust easily to a new home environment where she was the only cat. She is spayed, healthy, and current on vaccines.  

AKIRA is a super-gentle and sweet Labrador retriever/shepherd mix who gets along great with people and other dogs. She is approximately a year and a half old and would love to find a forever home. Animal Center officials rescued Akira the day she was scheduled to be euthanized when the shelter she was staying at ran out of space. Akira is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccines.

MATLOCK is a big, goofy love bug who loves to play ball. He is friendly and gets along very well with other dogs. Matlock is approximately 60 pounds, about 2 years old, and has the build of a working dog. Matlock is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines.

ROWDY is a small husky mix who loves everyone he meets. He gets along great with dogs, children, and adults, and would do great in a loving home environment. Rowdy had been living with a family in an apartment and they could no longer keep him. He’s 18-24 months of age, 40 pounds, and house trained. Rowdy is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines.

PUDGE is a handsome, all white male cat, about four years old. He is a special needs cat because he’s a diabetic. Pudge is very sweet and wants more than anything to find a home to call his own. He has been in a cage at Mt. Pleasant Hospital for Animals for a very long time now and would like to go home. To adopt Pudge, contact Mt. OSCAR MAYER is a friendly Daschund mix for adoption. He is neutered and current on vaccines.

TAMBER is a 5 month old Lab mix for adoption. She is friendly, well behaved and seems to get along with cats and dogs. Great with people and incredibly cute. She is spayed and current on vaccines.

JANGO is a 5 month old Lab mix for adoption. He’s incredibly sweet, good natured, loves to play, and gets along great with other dogs. He’s neutered and current on vaccines.

REEBOK is a friendly, 10 week old shepherd mix puppy for adoption who is neutered and current on vaccines.

LOIS is a 4 month old, sweet Lab/shepherd mix who is spayed and current on vaccines.

Good news: Dakota has been adopted.

The Animal Center is an all volunteer, non-profit animal  welfare charity. Programs include: A foster-based, no-kill rescue and adoption program for homeless and injured cats and kittens; Feral Cat Assistance Program that provides spay/neuter and vaccination assistance to caregivers of free-roaming, unowned cats in the community; and a dog rescue program that saves adoptable dogs scheduled for euthanasia.
