Making A Difference
Making A Difference
To the Editor:
âI canât Thank You enough.â âWhat an amazing job. I donât know what I would do without the help of youth and their families.â âI loved having a chance to talk with the young people. I will definitely call again next year.â
Yes, Newtown Youth & Family Services 10th Annual Independent Living Day was a success on Saturday, April 25. Comments made by the beneficiaries of the day, Newtownâs senior citizens, reflects its tenor.
Over 40 volunteers worked in crews to serve Newtownâs senior citizens, whether it be raking, washing windows, planting flowers, or some spring cleaning. We had a wonderful day, but we couldnât have done it without the help of some very supportive people and groups.
Thanks to many churches, school organizations, merchants, the Senior Center, and The Newtown Bee for spreading the word about Independent Living Day. Thanks to Bagel Delight, Dunkinâ Donuts, Subway, and Pepsi for continuing and much appreciated support. All of these merchants fueled our volunteers for work that had to be completed on that very sunny April morning and afternoon.
Thank you to all our youth, families, and friends who came, worked hard, and made a difference. Letâs do it again next year!
