Newtown Player Helps Chase School To Title
Emmett White of Newtown, a sophomore long stick defensive middie and short stick attack player on the Waterbury-based Chase Collegiate School boysâ lacrosse team, helped the team win the Hudson Valley Athletic League title for the second year in a row.
Chase posted a 14-10 victory over South Kent in Waterbury on May 22. The game was back and forth all afternoon and both teams played hard but Chase came out on top as the Highlander offense proved to be too potent for South Kent.
âWe made a few adjustments since our first game with them,â Coach James Beaudoin said. âThey are a good team and have some great athletes so we knew we had to be prepared for this one.â
South Kent took control of the tempo early on and was ahead 4-0 at the start. However, Chase was able to settle down and had an 9-8 advantage at the half. The Highlanders were led by
âIt is great to get this one as it is the goal from the outset of the season,â Beaudoin said. âThe league was very strong this year with several good teams and it is great to end the season on top.â
