Free Health & Fitness Fair For Seniors

SOUTHBURY — Home Instead Senior Care will partner with the Southbury Senior Center to host a free Health & Fitness Fair at the center on Thursday, May 21, from 10 am to 2 pm.

The fair will feature health screenings and informational tables hosted by local area health practitioners, including Urgent Care of Southbury, River Glen Health Care, Diagnostic Radiology Associates of Waterbury and Middlebury, Phillips Life, Line, Dembski Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, LLC, Southbury Fitness; AC Medical in Southbury; and Griffin Hospital.

Joan Gee, community services coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care, coordinated this event with Southbury Senior Center to offer seniors a free opportunity to receive expert information from an exceptional wealth of area practitioners who will provide a variety of health and fitness-related information and health screenings all in one location in one day.

The Health & Fitness Fair will feature the Griffin Hospital Van from Derby that will provide free stroke and blood pressure screenings. The van will be parked outside the Southbury Senior Center at 561 Main Street South. There will also be a series of breakout sessions conducted by area health-related businesses and organizations who will provide information on food safety, nutrition, exercise, chiropractic care, physical fitness, and much more. Home Instead Senior Care has invited Jordan’s Restaurant of Southbury to demonstrate how to prepare heart-healthy meals.

And Southbury Fitness will also host demonstrations on effective and safe use of exercise equipment. For more information, call 426-6666.
