Shauna Shane, Oil Demo, At Next SCAN Meeting

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host an oil painting demonstration by Shauna Shane on Wednesday, June 25, at 1:30 pm, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole).

Ms Shane will be painting an interior landscape. All are welcome, and there is no admission charge.

Ms Shane’s paintings are light filled expressions of the world she sees around her and are saturated with color and texture. Her work is formed by classical academic training and influenced by the impressionistic paintings of Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargent, and Carl Rungus.

The artist has had her work included in international competitions around the country, including the Oil Painters of America and the Salmagundi Club in New York City. She was just recently accepted into the Hudson Valley Art Association Exhibit to be held at the Lyme Art Association in Lyme later this summer

Recent awards were received from the CT Pastel Society Renaissance Exhibit and the Emerald National Exhibit in Springfield, Oregon. Shauna is represented in galleries in Connecticut, Cape Cod, Montana and Florida.

A professional painter for 30 years, Ms Shane is a former Resident Artist at Yellowstone National Park. She is represented in galleries in Connecticut, Cape Cod, Florida and Montana.
